What is Fund Your Park?

Fund Your Park is the crowdfunding platform for park and recreation agencies and their supporting friends groups, where you can learn about exciting and innovative new projects and choose to get involved by helping to fund them. The National Recreation and Park Association is operating Fund Your Park as a service to improve communities across the country.

Who uses Fund Your Park?

Fund Your Park is for projects that benefit the communities of the members of National Recreation and Park Association, but people from any community can become involved by contributing to one or more of the listed projects. Anyone with a valid credit card may donate to any project listed on Fund Your Park.

Why do people contribute to Fund Your Park projects?

People contribute to Fund Your Park projects for a variety of reasons. Some want to help bring to life projects that appeal to their passions and values. Others may wish to support projects that supports their community park. Still others may be attracted to the perks offered by project sponsors. Whatever your reason for participating, Fund Your Park is an exciting new way to support a wide range of projects that will benefit parks.

How much does it cost to be a member of Fund Your Park?

There is no fee to join Fund Your Park. When you sign up, you will have the option of receiving regular updates about Fund Your Park projects as well as other programs and opportunities of interest to you.

How much do park and recreation agencies pay for listing a project on Fund Your Park?

The National Recreation and Park Association is not charging any fees to agencies or groups participating in Fund Your Park. Park and recreation agencies that complete a Fund Your Park project pay fees totaling about 5 percent of their total donations, which covers credit card processing and the crowdfunding platform adminstration fee.

When will I get charged for my Fund Your Park donation?

Are contributions tax-deductible? Yes, contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by Federal or state law. You will receive a receipt from the NRPA for the charitable amount of your gift. If no “perks” are received in exchange for your gift, it is 100 percent tax-deductible; the tax-deductible amount is to be determined if the perk involves a good or service provided to you.

Who do I contact if I have a question about my contribution?

If you have a question about how the Fund Your Park system will handle charging your card or transferring the funds, please contact Dan Sanford at 703-858-2196 or dsanford@nrpa.org . If you have a question about how the organization will use the funds or about your tax receipt, please contact the sponsoring park and recreation agency’s project manager.

What forms of currency can be used to make a donation on Fund Your Park?

You can use any major credit card to pay for your Fund Your Park donation. You can also pay through your WePay account, if you have one, or make a contribution directly from your bank account. No funds will be accepted by cash or check, as this is a completely web-based system.
